538 completely misread the Trump thing. Did anyone NOT? Was it Huffington Post (maybe it was Buzzfeed?) that said they weren't going to include Trump in their political coverage? I still STILL think it'll be Rubio. Even if they have to pull some weird delegate shenanigans to make it happen. Only 7% of delegates have been awarded.

Does Trump even have one political endorsement? Not that a politician's endorsement is some badge of honor, but I don't ever recall a candidate having zero. Who would his VP even be??

donald trump won't be the nominee. It's actually quite easy to see how this all falls apart for Donald. Two weeks straight of negative (more so!) coverage nets Rubio a victory in his home state of Florida (99 delegates, winner take all) and North Carolina (proportional, but still). Katich wins Ohio (winner take all). Obviously if Rubio loses Florida he's cooked, and so is the contest. But Trump has consistently done poorly in CLOSED primaries with Republicans only. He does better in primaries that allow independents and democrats to vote. Florida is a closed primary.

Welp. Looks like your 2016 Republican nominee for president is Mitt Romney.

Cruz ain't fucking around. He's trying to knock out Rubio in Florida: www.texastribune.org/2016/03/04/new-cruz-path-forward/ Damn that's cold Ted. I do find his argument persuasive though. He's does seem like the only person that could even think about some semblance of unity in the party. The thing is, no one likes him, which seems to be a problem. I remember thinking a year (4 months even) ago that the GOP had a stacked field of highly qualified and persuasive candidates with diverse backgrounds and they would crush Hilary.

Looks like Cruz wins Iowa. Trump finishing a distant 2nd. Rubio 3rd. It's been projected before, but I do believe this is the initial death spiral of this whole Trump thing. ahahaha I'm so dumb

Don't feel bad, I would have put all my money on Jeb. Even when he was coming in last, I just thought the party power would kick in.

Hillary's a mass murdering tyrant. Anyone the GOP would have nominated would have been a mass murdering tyrant.
If the libertarian party was anything other than a bureaucratic joke, this would have been the year. Maybe four years of Hillary will awaken people on both sides.

I don't believe most Presidents have been positive to the nation, but it still seems unreal that Hillary and Trump are the two main choices. The one year the Libertarian Party might have actually done something, they nominate the worst LP ticket in memory.
