That may have been worse than all Cleveland losses ever, combined. It wasn't just one punch to the groin, it was several. And it came at the hands of the hired gun that you all hated before he came there.
Grant, Mark, feel free to go ape all over this message board.

As bad as this was, it was much worse in 1999. We'll get over it.
Still not over Gary Anderson...how on earth did he miss?

Bad loss. Especially for a franchise that has never won a Super Bowl.

Either way Grant, it's your older brotherly duty to make Greg burn his Favre jersey. Never shoulda bought it in the first place.

As bad as this was, it was much worse in 1999. We'll get over it. Still not over Gary Anderson...how on earth did he miss? I think I understand this. (let's get ready for NARCISIIIIIIIISSSSSMMMMM!!!!!!) As a Cleveland fan I can sort of equate both of those losses. The '99 loss was like the Cavs' loss to Orlando last NBA season. It was sort of a "where the f--- did that come from???" kind of punch to the groin: we were a juggernaut, and probably the better team, and probably the best team in the league (I'm 99% convinced the Cavs would have beaten the Lakers in the finals - just like the Vikes would have rolled the Broncos). It came totally out of the blue and we weren't emotionally prepared for a loss at all. That's probably what Vikes fans felt in '99. Last night on the other hand was sort of like the Indians' 2007 collapse where they were up 3-1 on the Red Sox and then everything just fell apart - nothing went right over the next three games, including huge choke jobs by their best players. Was it excruciating? Yes. Were we sort of expecting it? You betcha. And I would agree with you, Grant, that the "out of the blue, emotionally unprepared loss" was worse.

I've had gut punch losses before (Fisher's shot and Romo's botched hold) but both of those teams had won championships before, which takes the sting out a little.
I don't know how fans get by with all this heartache when they don't even have the ability to comfort themselves with memories of past championships.

Love the color guy on that radio call. "This is not Detroit man, this is the Super Bowl!"

What helps me is that most of my eggs are in the University of Texas basket. I was in much worse shape last season when OU got into the Big XII title game than I ever was last night.
I haven't talked to him today but I understand my brother is taking it pretty hard. He did fly up to see the Vikings play twice this past season.

Oh, and my father was pretty bitter about it last night. But he's been following the team since its inception, including the 4 superbowl losses before I was born.

As a Vikes fan, do you want Favre back or not?

I think I do. He was pretty fantastic most of the season, and I think he's a better option for us than Tavaris Jackson.
I don't really hold him accountable for the loss- if we hadn't had some stupid fumble-itis earlier in the game we wouldn't have really been in this mess.
I did say at the outset the real goal with Favre was to get a new stadium built. Time will tell if that will work out but it looks to be moving in the right direction.
