Amazing. Expand an illegal war and win the Peace Prize.

Keep in mind, Obama isn't the first person to be win the award with questionable credentials. Among them:
Teddy Roosevelt (Nominated for ending the Russo-Japanese war- I admire him a lot but he was pretty pro-war) Henry Kissinger (Nominated for negotiating the US exit from Vietnam, authorized Operation Menu which killed between 100,000-600,000 civilians in Vietnam and Cambodia) Yasser Arafat (Palestinian leader who was also involved with terrorism)
Honestly, this prize is the result of Nobel trying to salvage his own legacy- he founded the prize so he'd be remember for something other than inventing dynamite. It's award to Obama is a sign that the folks governing the prize in Norway are glad Bush is gone and decided that Obama's early moves are things they agree with. It shouldn't be that big of a shock that it was awarded preemptively- that's happenned before too.

Yasser Arafat is mind-numbing to think that he won the Peace Prize. He was as anti-peace as they come. The only peace he had was if you were with him in trying to eliminate Israel off the map.
It seems the award is now given out for "good intentions" and "wishful thinking" in the case of Obama. There is no way to have a civil conversation on this matter without pulling your hair out in utter bewilderment. The man has done NOTHING to even put him in this category to be considered for the Peace Prize. And I suppose that Obama thinks that he deserves this award.

According to the DNC, if you criticize Obama receiving the award, you're a terrorist. www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/1009/DNC_official_GOP_siding_with_terrorists.htmlInteresting. Bush used to use the same rhetoric, saying anyone who was against the war on terror and the Iraq war was unpatriotic and sympathetic to Al Queida. He was blasted by the liberals (and rightfully so). But apparently, when their man is in office, well....

I just spent the weekend with a bunch of good Austin liberals and even we were all very confused. Grubbi's right: he should be awarded the Nobel Prize for Allegedly Peaceful Intentions.
Those are good examples Grant. You could probably even throw in Al Gore. I'm a fan of his and all he's done, but the Nobel Peace prize? Seems miscategorized.
