Historically speaking, has the first 100 days of a new presidency always been the most tumultuous and stressful, or is that just a creation of the media so they can dramatize stuff?

I think it's a media thing. How much of what George W Bush did in his first 100 days is something you remember him for. And if Krall listed his 5 biggest Bush complaints, I'd be willing to be all of the are outside of his first 100 days.
The more I think of presidents, the more contrived and stupid the concept looks. I can't really think of much for them where the first 100 days held more weight than the rest of their terms in office.

My impression of the phrase "First 100 Days" is used by the media and outsiders as a guideline of how his administration will be managed.
And so far he doesn't know what he's doing. i.e. doesn't understand executive orders, asking questions about what he just signed...

Grant makes a fine point about the Bush administration.
Not sure where Andy's getting his info from. Probably the Drudge Report and Sean Hannity.
I think maybe the perception is due to the tumultuous start to the Clinton administration and the first 100 of the FDR's administration when he created the New Deal. But that's two presidents out of the last century that I think it's applicable to. Not really a trend there.
It might be just because 100 days is a lifetime now. 100 days ago we were just getting to know and love Sarah Palin.

take note at the 55 second mark....and if you can wait him out make note also at 5:30ish mark.
He's signing it but doesn't have a plan in place for the prisoners.....isn't the reason we study history is so that we don't repeat past mistakes....Yes, we all know the Bush admin didn't plan well enough for Iraq post "major combat operations"....
and I found this on MSNBC....

Yup. The former president of Harvard Law is clueless! Is there any way I can change my vote for Sarah Palin?

I think Bush had an incident in his first 100. Wasn't there a plane that crashed with a Chinese plane or something? They were hostages, and there was this ridiculous procedure where China wanted an apology, but America wouldn't actually use the word 'apology.'
And Krall, you can sign up now to be a early grass roots campaigner for Palin. Get in while there's still time!

yea. it was an American plane that would collect a lot of electronic transmissions i.e phone, radio, and who knows what else. It had either an emergency landing at a airfeild or crash landed somewhere in China.
The pilots, crew, and plane were held hostage for I think a week or two maybe three.
I know that the crew destroyed a lot of the information that they gathered before they crashed but the Chinese government was collecting what evidence they could from the plane and the crew during that time....
sorry no sources....all from memory....
