Yes, it's an overreaction to one game, and one the Colts could have easily won.
But watching the game last night, I couldn't help but think about how the Colts are basically Peyton Manning and nothing else. Reggie Wayne, Dwight Freeney, Robert Mathis, and (obviously) Bob Sanders were non-factors. Even though they barely took the lead for a time in the 2nd half. That 10-minute drive by the Jets was crushing. They have no defense. And it would be forgivable if any of their recent first round picks on offense (Gonzalez, Donald Brown) had panned out. Jim Caldwell appears to be a terrible coach, masked by his one great equalizer: Manning.
Obviously when you have Manning, you never rebuild. You go for it every year. And they nearly won the Super Bowl last year. But I think it might be time for the alleged personnel genius Bill Pollian to stockpile some draft picks (although, it appears as if he's not very deft at using them).

It's not an overreaction. They need to make some serious changes, starting with the coach. I think you can completely change up your roster without rebuilding. Look at New England.
I think they need to focus on defense. Time to trade Sanders and see what you can get for him. He's too unreliable with his injuries, but some team may take a chance on him. They could probably trade Tamme for some picks.

I think Freeney needs to go too. I've always thought he was over-rated due to his uselessness in run defense. I bet they could get a couple second rounders or a first rounder for him.

caldwell reminds me of switzer. he won because of the previous coach's time w/the team.
the only difference is that switzer is an ass

Are we sure that Polian is the genius the media makes him out to be?

Are we sure that Polian is the genius the media makes him out to be? No, that's why I said "alleged" above. The more I think about it, the more I think Polian has squandered perhaps the greatest single advantage any GM has ever had (Manning) and now they're looking at only one Super Bowl when a good GM would have had five.

Agree. Their inability to find a RB is perplexing.
