USC Bowl ban. Does that do anything to this process?

A couple more questions:
1) Why isn't the SEC trying to steal Texas and OU?
2) Why wouldn't Texas and OU prefer the SEC? Does the PAC-10 really bring in more revenue than the SEC? That doesn't sound right...

SEC has made offers to Texas in the past, Texas currently has no interest in the SEC. Academics have a part to play in it, although Vanderbilt doesn't suffer from being in the SEC. And it's not like Tech and Okie St are Ivy League. There's also rumors that Texas doesn't want to get involved in the cheating culture of the SEC, but who knows how much of that is true. Some say Texas doesn't want to open up a recruiting pipeline for the SEC into Texas.
If I remember correctly though, Texas was on the verge of joining the SEC before the Big 12 was formed, but for whatever reason those urges have passed.
OU would fit in perfectly with the SEC, but they're probably committed to the Big 12 schools.
Right now the SEC brings in the most revenue, but with a new mega conference featuring Cali and Texas, the new PAC 16 could most assuredly get a great deal. FOX is said to be salivating over it. The current PAC 10 deal expires next year.

Academics have a part to play in it I think that's about the last thing anyone is thinking about in all of this.

OK well the article I posted said it was, but the update made me look like a moron. But they originally reported it was a four school meeting.

Chip Brown is on the radio saying there will be a meeting at 11:30 with just Texas and A&M before Tech and Baylor.

So... where DO Kansas, Kansas St., Baylor and Iowa State end up? Mountain West?

re: Mountain West: I actually think this could be good for Baylor. They might get less money - but honestly, how much did that "extra" money help when they were in the Big 12?
Who knows: Baylor and KU (if KU drags their tail feathers reluctantly to the party) might become a legit basketball rivalry if Baylor can stay good. And the idea of a Baylor-BYU / Baptist-Mormon rivalry titillates me to no end.
That would leave the Mountain West with 13. Does Boise State join the party? That's actually not a terrible conference and might be able to push around the "Super 3" from time to time.
Although, that's my biggest concern: with these 16 team conferences, will there be any con-conference scheduling? You know, besides the one game against ULaLa and Rice every year.
WILL UT EVER PLAY BAYLOR AGAIN? What will we do with all those extra seats in the stadium? Have a water gun fight?
