Gotta wonder how much the decision to not let the SEC gain a recruiting foothold into Texas played into this.

I don't know who to believe or what's going on, so I'm not going to post any more rumors until something concrete is confirmed.
Oh, who am I kidding? I'm posting every rumor that comes up.

There's a lot of disinformation floating around right now. Let's see where the dust settles and then we can pick things apart.

Here we stand:
10 teams left in the Big XII
Huge TV money for Texas, A&M and OU.
Opportunity to form a Longhorn Network.
Probably going to fall apart again in a few years when the expansion starts in earnest.

So what should they rename the conference? I think the Small XII would be good.

I don't really know why Baylor fans are excited they get to stay in the Big 12 (or whatever it will be called) and get stomped by UT and OU every damn year. I preferred to see the Bears in the Mountain West. Yes, partially so they could play Colorado State. Partially because the Baptist-Mormon rivalry would be awesome. But mostly because they might actually get to compete in the damn thing.
Why should I be excited Baylor gets that LUCRATIVE BIG 12 REVENUE? Ohhh goodie! Now when I analyze their finances, we'll win!!!

Yeah, I don't understand all this either. People I talk to at Baylor say it has some to do with academic opportunities/money, but I just don't really buy that. I haven't cared much either way. The Mountain West never sounded too bad to me.

Yeah, I don't understand all this either. People I talk to at Baylor say it has some to do with academic opportunities/money people at baylor are full of crap. I think it's a respect thing for Baylor. But I'm all, "whatever." Think of it this way. What do you think gives Baylor the better opportunity to play in a BCS bowl: running the gauntlet of UT/TTU/A&M/OU/OSU ... or ... assuming the MWC could have gotten the Big 12's BCS berth, having a miracle season and beating Utah, BYU, AF, etc to win the MWC?

What do you think gives Baylor the better opportunity to play in a BCS bowl: I had a hard time making it past that initial statement.

What about other sports though, isn't the Big 12 a better option for Baylor in the sports where we are competitive? (everything other than football)
Personally, I've given up on football. If Baylor can have a solid basketball team most years, which still remains to be seen, I'll be thrilled.

I'm completely underwhelmed. I'm down with Texas making the most money so they can continue to buy the best coaches, but I was prepared for the Pac 10 mentally. To remain in this crap conference, and to lose Nebraska, really sucks. The only game that matters now is the second week of October. Here's Katz's column on why everything happened. sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/news/story?id=5286816

It sounds like ESPN panicked about losing all these markets to Fox and overbid for the conference. But no one is talking about this new TV dea, so it all remains speculation. Should be an interesting Texas press conference today.
